These bars are great energy boosters and are also a good way to introduce healthy nuts and seeds to young taste buds. Also great with a cuppa.
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup plain flour
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups cornflakes
1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped into small pieces
1/2 cup dried dates, chopped into small pieces
200 grams butter
1 cup of any nuts that you like
1/2 cup liquid honey
1 cup Nestle milk chocolate melts
3/4 cup Milo powder
- Pre-heat oven to 180 C. Line the base of a large slice tin 30cm x 25cm.
Combine the coconut, rolled oats, cornflakes, dried apricot, dried dates, 1 cup of any nuts or seeds you like or have in the cupboard and Milo in a large bowl.
- Place the honey, butter in a small saucepan and stirring constantly, bring to the boil. Continuing to stir, simmer mixture for 5 minutes. Add to the dry ingredients and mix in well.
- Press the mixture evenly into the tin. Bake for 20 minutes until the top is golden brown. Cool in the tin and drizzle with the melted milk melts. Cut into bars, and store in an airtight container.
