  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 6 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 75 grams butter chopped
  • 3/4 cup grated tasty cheese added after cutting in the butter


  • Pre heat oven to 220o C Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Grate butter into flour until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Add milk and mix quickly to a soft dough. This process can be done in a food processor. Knead a few times. Press dough into a rectangle about 3 cm thick. Cut into 9 equal pieces. Leave a 2 cm gap between scones. Brush tops with milk. Put on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes or until golden
