Chocolate Hokey Pokey Biscuits

  • 1 Tbsp golden syrup
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 125 grams butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups plain flour sifted
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips


  • Pre-heat oven to 180C. Line an oven tray with baking paper.
  • Place the golden syrup and milk in a small saucepan and stir together while still cold. On a very low heat stir constantly ( to prevent curdling) until the golden syrup melts. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Allow to cool.
  • Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the golden syrup mix. Add the flour and chocolate chips and mix well. Roll heaped teaspoonfuls of mixture into balls and place on oven tray. Press down lightly with a fork. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
