Pastries especially savoury sausage rolls are one of life’s joys. I think they can be enjoyed anytime. As a snack or as a meal, the choice is yours. The fillings are endless.
Sausage rolls with lentils
If your looking for something savoury with the addition of apple and lentils these are a great tasting sausage roll.
Ingredients
- Store brought puff pastry
- 1 onion , finely grated
- 2 Tbsp dried oregano
- 2 Tbsp dried parsley
- salt and pepper
- 500 grams sausage meat
- 500 grams pork mince
- 1 tin brown lentils, drained
- 1 green apple, grated
- 1 egg to brush on top
Instructions
- Pre heat oven to 200C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until all ingredients are combined, and mixed well.
- Lay pastry out on a lightly floured surface. Make a long log with the sausage mixture. Fold over the pastry, cut the pastry and wet the edge and fold over to seal the filling. Repeat with the rest of the filling and pastry. Prick the top of the sausage rolls. Can either leave them long or cut into small rolls.
